The main aims are for children to make friends, build their confidence, learn performing arts skills but most importantly to have fun.
We decided to run a stage academy in the morning offering students to learn songs, dances and scripts from a popular musical/film.
The children performed the production on the final day which we filmed and e-mailed out to all parents.

Melanie has danced all her life and after school and college she went onto train professionally for 3 years in Musical Theatre in the UK. She then went onto perform in a touring pantomime over the festive periods and teach for an award-winning theatre school. Melanie taught dance, singing and drama to ages 2-18 for 7 years before moving to Australia. Melanie loves all styles of dance from commercial to musical theatre to ballet! She loves keeping active and passing on her passion for the performing arts. She is excited to be working The Brain Space and can’t wait to meet lots of new students!
Brain-based learning is motivated by the general belief that learning can be accelerated and improved if educators base how and what they teach on the science of learning, rather than on past educational practices, established conventions, or assumptions about the learning process.
Kinesthetic activities help commit learning into long-term memory. Turning a lesson into a physical experience is not only a good way to keep kids focused and engaged – it’s also lots of fun!
Participating in sport and physical activity contributes to the holistic development of children and adolescents.
Not only does participation contribute to physical and mental health outcomes and valuable social connections, but physical activity (including sport) has been linked to cognitive development.
Physical activity has been shown to stimulate brain development and this correlates with improved academic performance. It also lessens the health risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle so that healthy, active children become better learners.
